Add & Edit Book Series

Go to Library > Series to add or edit book series.

Add a New Book Series

  1. Name: Add the name of the book series. This is the name that will be visible on your site.
  2. Slug: Add the URL-friendly version of the series name. The slug is usually uses all lowercase and only contains letters, numbers and hyphens. Do not use spaces in the slug.
  3. Parent: Select a parent series if you’d like to make this a sub-series.
  4. Description: Add an optional description of this series.
  5. Click Add New Book Series to save your settings.

Edit Existing Series

Go to Library > Series to view a list of all existing series and edit individual series.

Hover over a series name to access the Quick Edit link. There you can change the name and slug of the series.

To edit the full details of the series, click the Edit link or simply click the series name.

 

You can edit the following details for each series:

  1. Name: Add the name of the book series. This is the name that will be visible on your site.

  3. Parent: Select a parent series if you’d like to make this a sub-series.

  5. Archive Headline: Add the title you’d like to use on the series archive page (example series archive page: http://demo.studiopress.com/author/series/travel ).
  6. Archive Intro Text: Add the text you’d like to display at the top of the series archive page (example series archive page: http://demo.studiopress.com/author/series/travel ).
  7. Custom Document Title: Add an SEO-friendly title to customize how the series archive page looks in search results. The title on the page will remain the same as set above, but the search result will show your custom SEO title.
  8. Meta Description: Add a meta description that may show under the SEO-friendly title in search results. For the meta description to show, it must contain the keywords or keyphrases that were used in the search.
  9. Meta Keywords: Add meta keywords that tell search engines what this page is about. These keywords will only appear in the HTML code of your site. Most search engines do not use meta keywords, or they give them very little consideration, at this time; however, they’re worth using in case keywords are given greater consideration in the future.
  10. Robots Meta: Choose noindex to tell search engines to not index this page, nofollow to tell search engine robots to not follow any links on the page at all, or noarchive to prevent search engines from showing a cached copy of this page.
  11. Layout Settings: Choose which layout the series archive page should use.
