Streamline Pro Theme

Thank you for using the Genesis Framework by StudioPress and selecting the Streamline Pro theme. Following are the instructions for setting up your site to resemble the Streamline Pro theme demo.

Pre-Installation Setup

Make sure you have the following installed:

  • WordPress version 3.6+
  • Genesis Framework version 2.0+

Before you begin, you will need to install and activate the following plugins Of course, you may substitute your favorite plugin, but this is the one used in the Streamline Pro theme demo:

How to Import Demo Content

For your convenience, an export file of the Streamline Pro theme demo site is available to assist in the setup of your Streamline Pro theme. You’ll find more information about this in the Importing Demo Content tutorial.

Theme Installation

How to Configure the Genesis Theme Settings

In your WordPress admin, navigate to Genesis > Theme Settings. Configure the Theme Settings as follows:

Color Style

  • Click on the Color Style Dropdown to select an alternative color scheme for your site.

Default Layout

  • Click a thumbnail to select the Default Layout. The Streamline Pro theme uses the Content > Sidebar option.

Breadcrumbs

The Streamline Pro theme demo is configured to display Breadcrumbs on Posts, Pages, Archives, and 404 Page.

Content Archives

  1. For Content Archives, the default setting of “Display post content” is used in the demo.
  2. Leave the “Limit content to __ characters” option blank or set to 0.
  3. Check the “Include the Featured Image?” checkbox.
  4. Select the “post-image” size from the Image Size dropdown
  5. Using the drop down box, select “Numeric” for the “Post Navigation Technique.”

Note: Because a featured image is placed above the posts on the home page, archive pages, and on sIngle posts special consideration should be given to the images used in the post content in order to avoid having images displaying twice. We recommend setting a featured image for each post that does not appear in the content of the post.

Be sure to click the “Save Settings” button to preserve your changes.

How to Configure the Site Title Header Text

The site title and description for your site can be set by navigating to Settings > General.

  1. The Site Title will display in the upper left corner of your site.
  2. The Tagline Setting will display directly below the Site Title when using the Streamline Pro Theme.
  3. Be sure to click the “Save Settings” button to preserve your changes.

How to Use a Custom Header Image

If you prefer a Logo Image rather than a text based Site Title it is possible to use a small logo style image that will display in the upper left corner of the site.

  1. Navigate to Appearance > Header menu in your WordPress admin panel
  2. Click “Browse” and Navigate to the image you would like to use for a Logo. Images of exactly 300 × 60 pixels will give the best results. Other sizes will be cropped in the upload process to create an image of the correct size.
  3. Click “Upload” to copy the image from your computer to your website.
  4. Be sure to click the “Save Settings” button to preserve your changes.

How to Use a Background Image or Color

The Streamline Pro theme demo can be configured to display an image behind the content area of the site.

  1. Navigate to Appearance > Background in your WordPress admin panel.
  2. Use the “Browse” button to select the background image you wish to use from your computer.
  3. Once the image has been selected click the “Upload” button to load the image for use on your site.
  4. Alternatively you can use the “Choose Image” button to select the background image you have loaded to your site previously.
  5. The Display Options settings for Position, Repeat, and Attachment can be set depending on the optimal settings for the image you have chosen.
  6. To select a Background Color to show around, or instead of a background image in click “Select Color” and choose a color or enter a hexadecimal color code.
  7. Click the “Save Changes” button to preserve your changes.

Note: This background image does not need to be a specific size since the theme is responsive and will crop, shrink, and grow the image as needed.

How to Configure the Navigation Menus

In the Streamline Pro theme, the Primary Navigation menu area is used in the demo.

The default navigation areas can be set by navigating to Appearance > Menus > Manage Locations. Set the Primary navigation menu to the previously created menu of your choice.

A Menu set in the Primary and Secondary Navigation Menu locations will display just below the header area of your site.

Be sure to click the “Save Settings” button to preserve your changes.

Header Right Widget Area

The Streamline Pro theme uses a Simple Social Icons widget placed in the header right widget area.

Genesis Simple Social Icons Widget Settings:

  • Title: Blank
  • Icon Size: 48px
  • Icon Border Radius: 3px
  • Alignment: Align Right
  • Icon Font Color: #ffffff
  • Icon Font Hover Color: #ffffff
  • Background Color: #cccccc
  • Background Hover Color: #333333

How to Configure the Home Page

The Streamline Pro theme demo home page is configured via several widget areas.

  1. Home – Featured 1: Displays to the far left, below the header and navigation area.
  2. Home – Featured 2: Displays in the middle, below the header and navigation area
  3. Home – Featured 3: Displays to the far right below the header and navigation area
  4. Directly below the three Home Featured widget areas a blog style listing of recent posts and sidebar will display.

Note: If no Widget areas are active in any of the Home Page Specific Widget Areas a Blog Style Home page will be displayed. If you wish to use a Static Page for your home page any widgets added to the three Home widget areas will display above the static page content.
