After you’ve created your FAQs, you can display them anywhere on your site that accepts shortcodes or by using the built-in Genesis Simple FAQ widget.
Note: The built-in Genesis Simple FAQ widget is only available after you’ve installed and activated the Genesis Simple FAQs plugin.
Shortcode Method
When using the shortcode to display your FAQs, you’ll use either the id or the cat attribute.
- id: The FAQ ID, either singular or a comma-separated list.
- cat: The FAQ category ID, either singular or a comma-separated list.
For example, FAQs can be displayed using one or more question ID:
Or by one or more category ID:
To use this method, go to Simple FAQs > All FAQs to identify the ID number of each FAQ question.
Or go to Simple FAQs > Categories to identify the ID number of each FAQ category.
- Hover over the category name.
- While you’re hovering over the category name, the ID will be visible within the URL that displays in the lower left corner of your browser screen. In the example image above, FAQ Category 2 has an ID of 96.
Another way to identify the category ID is to go to Simple FAQs > Categories and click on the category name to open the Edit Category page. While you’re on that page, the category ID will be visible within the URL that is displayed at the top of your browser, as shown below.
Important Note:
- When using more than one shortcode, be sure to add a space between each shortcode (in other words, press Enter after each shortcode). If the shortcodes are on consecutive lines with no spaces, the FAQs won’t display correctly.

- Click Save to preserve your settings.
