If you have a Google AdSense account with Auto Ads enabled, you can enter your AdSense publisher ID in the Genesis Theme Settings to allow Genesis to automatically place the ad code in the <head> of your site. Google will then automatically place ads on your site without you having to do anything else to make it work. Learn more about Auto Ads.
In addition, you can use the shortcode to give hints to Google that show where good locations for ads are on your site (see below for details).
- This is a global setting and will be applied to your entire site.
- See Add Header, Footer, and Body Scripts to learn how to include other ad code or scripts on your site (in addition to Google AdSense with Auto Ads).
- If you prefer to remove the Google AdSense options from your site, you can add one or more code snippet to your child theme’s functions.php file.
If you are using Genesis 2.6, there are two (2) ways to access the Google AdSense feature in the Genesis Theme Settings:
Original Theme Settings Page
Go to Genesis > Theme Settings to configure these settings using the original Theme Settings page.
Theme Settings in the Customizer
Go to Appearance > Customize > Theme Settings > Google AdSense to configure these settings in the WordPress customizer.
AdSense Hint Shortcode
As described above, adding your Publisher ID to your Genesis site will allow Google to automatically place ads in various locations on your site. However, you can also use the following shortcode to “hint” to Google that a particular area would be a good location for an ad (for example, in a post, page, or widget).
